Answers to the questions we get asked most often.
Every Atelier Mewira piece is made using the wire wrapping technique. It's a craft that involves shaping, braiding, and coiling metal wire by hand (copper, brass, silver, gold...) - with no soldering or melting - to build structures that hold, set, and showcase beads and natural stones. In practice, the artisan uses simple tools - pliers and a hammer - to shape the wire. It's an ancestral technique going back thousands of years, and it still demands a lot of precision and patience today to create one-of-a-kind jewelry. What makes it particularly interesting: • No soldering: stones and beads are held in place purely by the tension and structure of the wire • Each piece is unique: even with the same design in mind, small variations in gesture or in the stones mean no two pieces are ever exactly alike • A delicate, sculptural look: the interwoven metal creates an effect that's both organic and precise, very different from a molded or industrial piece
Each piece is made from metal wire, in different finishes: • Silver-tone: silver-plated copper, sometimes with a few stainless steel elements • Gold-tone: brass • Copper-tone: copper • Rose-tone: colored copper They're then adorned with beads and stones of varying shapes, sizes, and colors - mostly natural stones, unless stated otherwise in the piece's description.
Copper, brass, and silver-plated pieces are living materials: over time, and with contact with skin, air, or humidity, slight oxidation can appear, and the silver plating can gradually fade. It's a natural process that's part of the charm of these pieces. None of our jewelry contains nickel. A few simple habits to keep it looking its best for longer: • Avoid contact with water, perfume, creams, and household products • Take your jewelry off before sleeping, exercising, or swimming • Store it away from humidity and light, ideally in a pouch or closed box, apart from other pieces to avoid scratches • For gentle cleaning, a soft dry cloth is usually enough; avoid abrasive products or costume-jewelry cleaning baths If slight oxidation appears despite regular care, here are a few tips depending on the material: For copper and brass: • A specialized product, following the usage instructions • Ketchup (yes, really!): its mild acidity helps dissolve oxidation. Apply a small amount, leave it on for a few minutes, rub gently, then rinse and dry. For silver plating, or rose copper: • The tips above can work, but be careful: the silver or lacquer layer is thin, and your piece could change color slightly. • A soft silver cloth: for light, regular care, a simple microfiber cloth is often enough to bring back the shine without damaging the plating. ⚠️ In every case: always dry the piece thoroughly after cleaning, avoid rubbing too hard (especially on silver-plated pieces, so as not to wear down the plating), and never use abrasive products or an industrial costume-jewelry cleaning bath.
The goal is to release at least 4 collections a year, each with around ten new pieces. For every launch, people on the waitlist get priority access, and the site opens to everyone else 2 hours later. To stay in the loop - get an early look at the pieces you'll love, share your feedback, suggest ideas for future creations, and of course find out the launch dates - the best place to follow Atelier Mewira is Instagram (and our other social channels)!
For now, Atelier Mewira doesn't offer personalized or made-to-order pieces on request. Every creation is part of a collection designed and made in advance. That said, I'd love to hear your ideas! Feel free to suggest combinations in the comments on social media - say you love a piece in silver-tone and would love to see it in gold-tone? Tell me! I won't be able to reply to every suggestion, but some might just make their way into the next collection... So stay connected, join the waitlist, and be quick to grab the piece you inspired!
Once a ring size is set, it unfortunately can't be adjusted afterward - which is why it's important to measure your finger carefully before ordering. Here's a simple method you can do at home: wrap a non-stretchy string (or dental floss) around the base of your finger, mark with a pen where it overlaps, then measure the length with a ruler in millimeters - that measurement corresponds directly to your ring size in the European system. You can also compare it with a ring you already own that fits perfectly, by measuring its inner diameter. (Full, detailed guide available at leguidedubijou.fr) 💡 Tip: measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are slightly more swollen, for a more reliable result.
By joining the waitlist, you'll receive an email 2 hours before the shop officially opens, with a password giving you exclusive early access to the site. After that, the shop opens to everyone - so be quick to grab the one-of-a-kind pieces you love before they're gone!
